SENATOR CHRISTOPHER DODD “CHERRY PICKS” INTERVIEWS

DODD, "YOU BE NICE."

If you’ve already read my previous post from his morning,  you already know how my three-year old daughter Sadie told me to “be nice to Senator Dodd,” this morning as I was on my way to drop her off at school.

If you didn’t read it, You know now. This comment seemed to come out of nowhere.

After interviewing Senator Christopher Dodd today, I wish his daughters’ Grace and Christina had told him the same thing.

“Daddy, you be nice to Shelly.”

Apparently, that didn’t happen.

Don’t get me wrong, he was professional  today at a press conference at St. Francis Hospital but here is what  ruffled my feathers.

I found out today that Senator Dodd “cherry picked” his interviews on Friday –picking WHICH reporters would get time alone with him for what we call a one-on-one interview.

I didn’t make the cut so didn’t  the reporters at The Courant.

Despite my request with Dodd’s office for a sit-down interview (the day after Dodd’s announcement that he would retire) my request seemed to fall on deaf ears.

I found out today that Dodd spoke with Al Terzi from Channel 3, Tom Monahan from Channel 30, Brian Burnell from New England Cable news and NOT ME.  This all happened Friday.   It’s a good thing I was too busy cleaning my basement this weekend to notice!

I guess Mark Davis from channel 8 was also blackballed.

Here’s the kicker, Dodd was even in our building on Friday meeting with The Hartford Courant editorial board but refused to speak with reporters.

I spoke with him today but it just wasn’t the same.
My heart just wasn’t in it.

I am calling Grace and Christina now to see if they can talk to their Dad or at least slip him some of Sadie’s advice.

YOU BE NICE.
