promoting the calendar today on-air on WDRC-AM radio

They’re brave. They’re Bold. They’re beautiful, and that’s just the half of it.

Manchester volunteer firefighterFor the first time ever, Connecticut female firefighters are getting the attention they deserve! In the first of its kind calendar, the women get to show a different side, in the 2012 calendar called “Guts and Glamour”.

“I had them wear evening gowns,” said creator and photographer Shelly Sindland. “I did it because not only is it different but it showcased another side. Today’s woman comes with many different sides and layers; not just one things defines her. This calendar shows just that but in a subtle way.”

Susan, Winsted Volunteer FirefighterSindland, who worked as a television reporter for more than 20 years, loved being behind the camera for the project.

“I get composition and lighting,” she said. “I loved having complete control and capturing the innate beauty behind these incredibly strong women.”

Today,  “Miss January” and “Miss February” were out promoting the calendar by appearing on the “Talk of Connecticut” on  WDRC-AM.
